The most likely cause of this message is that the internal GPS COM port that Memory-Map uses to talk to the GPS receiver within the Navigator has been changed in the settings.
To fix this, do the following:
Start up Memory-Map
Go through all the startup screens etc.
When it complains about "Can't open COM port", tap the Cancel button
Hopefully, at this point you can see the menu buttons etc.

Tap the
Mode-Change icon (green with double-white arrowheads)

Tap the Menu button (the blue button with the hammer and spanner). The menu will display.
Tap the GPS menu item
Tap the Setup... menu subitem

In this example, the port is set incorrectly to COM3:
Therefore, we need to change it to the correct port, as shown in the next step...

Make sure the Port value is set to COM7:
Then tap the OK button
